Katherine JohnsonPresident & Founder
Katherine Johnson is the President and Founder of FFAS (TAS). A 30-year resident of Florida, she resides in Melbourne, Florida with her husband Donald Jennings and their four dogs and two cats (these numbers are fluid and fluctuate on a regular basis). She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where she earned her accounting degree (BS). Her past professional career found her working for several construction and manufacturing companies, eventually owning and operating her own tax and accounting business called Intercoastal Accounting, Inc. while enthusiastically instructing small business accounting courses at Florida Institute of Technology.
While Katherine enjoyed working with numbers, it was evident as far back as her childhood that her true passion was centered around her love of animals. In 2011 she decided to hang up her accounting cap and answer the burning desire she had to create a no-kill, cage-free animal sanctuary here in Brevard, Florida. With the help of wonderful donors, sponsors and volunteers, she is doing just that. Katherine is passing on her love of animals to her two precious grandchildren; makes time to scuba dive; kayak and travel when time allows while always making time to cherish the friendships and family she has been blessed with. No matter who she’s with or what she’s doing, however, her infectious mission to end animal homelessness and abuse remains at the forefront of her every action.
